Lyle was born in Kimball, S.D. He retired from United Airlines as a mechanic.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Jean Simpkins; daughter, Dorothy A.; and sons, Calvin R., Stephen G., and Anthony P.

Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in Restlawn Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Newberg. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Willamette National Cemetery.
