"IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE"

Joseph August Clements, Sr. began his life's journey on August 10, 1926 in New Orleans Louisiana. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church and attended school at the Lutheran School in New Orleans. After graduating, he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He became employed as a merchant seaman where he served as a cook.

Joseph met and fell in love with "..." They were married on May 3, 1947 and enjoyed a loving marriage for 59 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Joseph Clements Jr., and Sharon Clements, who preceded him in death.

"Joe" or "Uncle Joe" as he was lovingly called by all, was a devoted husband, a loving father, a good brother, a doting grandfather, and a loving and caring friend. He cooked "mouth watering meals," and he would not allow you to leave his house without having a taste of something.

After his family, the love of Joseph's life was horse racing and gambling. His passion for attending a race track or a card room continue until his illness prevented him from attending. His personality, and love of life touched everyone he knew. Nobody was a stranger to Joe Clements.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife, his son, his grandchildren, one sister and a host of other relatives and friends. One sister and five brothers preceded him in death.
JOSEPH CLEMENTS SR. Of Oakland, departed on June 17, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Clements, son, Antonio Clements, and other relatives and friends. Viewing will be Saturday, June 25, 2005, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and funeral service will be Monday, June 27, at 11 a.m., both in our chapel, 3630 Telegraph Ave., Oakland.
