Funeral service were held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Porter with Rev. Ellen Munter officiating. Private burial was in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Porter.
Elfriede Hermine Groezinger was born to Fridrick and Hermine (Fisher) Hansmann in Hamelm County, Pyrmont Germany on December 28, 1916.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Heinsen Germany. She received her education in Heinsen and then became a Kindergarten Teacher.
On December 21, 1940, she married Carl Sievering in Heinsen. Carl was killed during the war in 1944. Her home was bombed and burned in 1945; she then moved to England in 1949 and taught kindergarten in an orphanage.
In 1952, she moved to Stolzenau Germany and married Byron Groezinger on August 1, 1952. She came to the US later and arrived in Porter on December 10, 1952, where she and Byron made their home. When they first arrived, she worked at the Hardware Store and meat shop in Porter and later from 1966-1975, she worked at the Canby Community Hospital. After retirement, they wintered in Texas for 7 years, where there were many fond memories. Byron passed away in 1984.
She is survived by a sister Lotti and many nieces and nephews in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
