ISLAND PARK - Harold G. Bailey, 73, of Island Park, Idaho, died January 29, 2000, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of natural causes.
He was born August 6, 1926, at Arnold, Nebraska, to George W. Bailey and Laura Frances Koch Bailey. He attended schools in Nebraska, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Idaho Falls. In 1950 he married Ruby Ritchie. She died in 1988. He married Nan A. Martin in May 1988.
Throughout his life he had worked at various jobs. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army. After the war, he became a journeyman carpenter and worked in Idaho and at various other locations, such as Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. Some of the jobs that he supervised in the Idaho Falls area included the Westbank Tower and at locations at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. He was a member of the Carpenters' Union and served as a business representative in the organization before he retired.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and horses. He was a member of posses and chariot associations for many years and he could be found at their various meets on weekends. He finally accomplished his dream of building a log home in Island Park this last year. His grandson, Alex Wagner, lives in Denver, Colorado.
Survivors include his wife, Nan A. Bailey of Island Park; a stepson, Michael Wagner of Denver, Colorado.; two stepdaughters, Deana Wagner of Glendale, California, and Eleanor (Dustin) Rolfe of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; three sisters, Beulah (Bodie) Daum of California, Lois Erickson of Idaho Falls, and Sharon Brown of California; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Alliance Covenant Church, 557 S. Blvd. in Idaho Falls with Dr. Gary Goeschl, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St. in Idaho Falls.
