Funeral services for James Baker, age 63, Caldwell pioneer, were held at the Elks' lodge rooms Sunday afternoon and were largely attended. The Elks' lodge, of which Mr. Baker was a member, had charge of the services, with Drs. W. J. Boone and F. E. Springer officiating. Burial was in Canyon Hill cemetery.
Mr. Baker died Friday afternoon at the Mercy hospital, Nampa. After an illness of more than a year he underwent a major operation two weeks ago. It was thought that he was slowly recovering until Friday evening when he suffered a sudden relapse. His wife and brother, John, were summoned but he passed away before their arrival.
James Baker located at Caldwell 35 years ago and had been continuously engaged in the livestock business. He was widely and favorably known throughout the livestock districts of this section of the west.
Mr. Baker is survived by his widow, two daughter--Mrs. Pauline Black, of Price, Utah, and Miss Marie Baker of Boise; and two brother, John of Caldwell, and B. B. Baker, of Denver.
