W. C. EVANS
W. C. Evans died at his home near Lebanon, Miss., October 13, 1922. Mr. Evans had suffered ill health for several months. His death, while expected, was quite a shock to his family and many friends.
Mr. Evans was born in Hall County, Georgia, February 4, 1854, and moved to Marshall County, Miss. with his parents in childhood. He had lived at his present home 48 years.
Lebanon Community loses in him a substantial citizen.
Mr. Evans leaves a wife, Mrs. S. E. Evans, sons, Mora, Sumpter and Tommy Evans, of Memphis, Harvey Evans, of Lebanon, Walter Evans, of Jackson, and daughters, Mrs. Julia Moore, Mrs. Nina Smith, Mrs. Nora Jenkins, of Lebanon, Miss Madge Evans of Memphis, one brother, John Evans of Meridian, and Rev. A. M. Evans of Lebanon.
He was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church, was Sunday School Superintendent for 36 years, was a Bible scholar and devout Christian, a great friend to the Children with whom he was a great favorite.
He was buried at Lebanon Sunday, October 15th by his pastor, Rev. H. Weir, of Waterford.
