Charles Christian Walk was the second of twelve known children of Johann Joseph (went by Joseph) Alexander Walk (1773-1839) and Elisabeth Goss Walk (1783-1854). Charles was born and raised in or near the Moravian community of Friedberg, then on the border of Stokes and Rowan Counties, North Carolina; now on the border of Davidson and Forsyth Counties, North Carolina.

Charles married Lydia Rothrock (1806-1877) on 11 Dec 1827 at Friedberg, Davidson County, North Carolina. Charles and Lydia were the parents of seven known children; namely:

1. Lewis Parmenio Walk (1828-1830)
2. Joel Alexander Walk (1830-1849)
3. Sophia Christina Walk Robinson Painter Voight (1832-1911)
4. Henrietta Elisabeth Walk (1835-1846)
5. Samuel Phillip Walk (1837-1874)
6. Amanda Ernestine Walk Voight Cantwell (1840-1901)
7. Joseph Orestes Walk (1842-1902)

The family moved from North Carolina to the Pinhook region of Edwards County, Illinois in 1844; along with many other Moravian families from the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, area. In 1850 Charles, Lydia, Charles, Samuel, Amanda and Orestes lived with Lydia's parents at Edwards County, Illinois. In 1860 Charles (a farmer), Lydia, Samuel, Amanda and Orestes lived at Edwards County (Mills Prairie Post Office), Illinois. In 1870 Charles (a farmer), Lydia and unmarried son Joseph lived at Salem Precinct, Edwards County, Illinois. Lydia died at the home of her daughter Sophia Walk Robinson Painter.

Included below are links to Charles' parents, wife, all of his seven known children and ten of his eleven known siblings. The youngest child Joseph moved to Texas about 1876 where he died.
