DR. M. C. FISHER

Dr. M. C. Fisher, 66, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday. The Chariton dentist had been in failing health for the last year, though he remained active in his practice.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gundrum conducting. Burial will be in the Chariton Cemetery.

Surviving are a son, James of Logan, Utah; a daughter, Judith of Thomaton, Conn.; two sisters, Mrs. Wilma Houser of Knoxville and Mrs. Lavina Enslow of Omaha, Nebr. and a granddaughter. Mrs. Fisher preceded him in death in 1971.

Dr. Fisher began his Lucas County practice in Russell, moving his practice to Chariton prior to World War II. He served in the dental corps of the U.S. Navy, being discharged in 1945 as a Lieutenant-Commander. Much of his service was spent on the Pacific Island of Peleliu.

He was graduated from the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa in 1935.

Dr. Fisher was active in a number of organizations in Chariton, including St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, in which he held official positions. He was a long time member of Chariton Lodge No. 63, AF&AM, York rites and was a member of professional dental societies.

In recent years he had developed a stong interest in trapshooting and regularly attended meets at various Iowa clubs, including the Chariton Sportsmen's Club of which he was a member.

The death of Dr. Fisher leaves Chariton with one practicing dentist, Dr. Robert Grappendorf.

The family suggests memorials be forwarded to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
