Funeral services celebrating the life of Mable Marie (Coleman) Ashby, 88, of Durant, will be Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM in Brown's Funeral Chapel with the Reverend James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery, Boswell. Casketbearers will be Terry Ashby, Chris Ashby, Shawn Tallcott, Ron Tallcott, John Louis Ashby, and David Gaither. Honorary casketbearers will be Alan King, Dohn Bowen, Mark Coleman, Geoffrey Ashby, Zack Ashby, Lucas Ashby, and J.J. Swearingen. Family hour for Mable will be Friday night from 6-8PM at the funeral home.

Mable was born on September 18, 1921 in Bokchito to Albert William and Fannie Maud (Ferguson) Coleman and went to meet her Lord early Wednesday morning, January 13, 2010. Growing up, Mable attended schools in Bokchito, Bennington, Blue, and Boswell. She married Johnnie O'Neal Ashby on July 5, 1946 in Paris, Texas. Mable's passion was being a homemaker and helping her husband with the farm. They moved to Durant in June of 1999. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and giving her time at the church. Mable was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnnie on May 19, 1986, one brother and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Musgrave and husband Bill of Yantis, TX, Ina Jo Tallcott and husband Larry of Loranie, Il; sons Neal Ashby and wife JoAnne of Durant, Johnny Ashby and wife Sandra of Durant; brothers Albert Coleman and wife Wilda of Wichita,KS, Carl Coleman of Idabel, Wayne Coleman and wife Bobbie of Lubbock, TX; sister Nell Stewart of Lubbock, TX; sister in law Pauline Ashby of Bonham, TX, brother in law R.H. Ashby and wife Myrna of Harmon, OK; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
