Newspaper OBIT May 12, 1968 HAZEL OLIVE HOOD OF LAPLATA AREA DIES, AGED 70 Hazel Olive Hood, 70, Rt. 1, LaPlata, died at 2:45 Saturday afternoon in a Kirksville hospital where she had been a patient since Tuesday morning. She had been in failing health for two moths. Mrs. Hood was born in LaPlata Nov. 23, 1897, the daughter of Charles H. and Gertrude (Gates) Eller. She was married April 18, 1917 to John E. Hood, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Doris R. Cook, and Mrs. Willard (Jewell) Moncrief, both of LaPlata; one son, John E. Hood, Jr., Fort Worth, Tex.; two grandchildren, Gerald G. Chappelle, Tacoma, Wash.; and David Wayne Hood, Fort Worth, Tex.; her father of Brookfield; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Davison and Mrs. Elmer (Eva) Stufflebean, Brookfield; Mrs. A.M. (marie) Cunningham, Mesa, Ariz., and Mrs. Albert (Lydia) England, Springfield; two half-sisters, Mrs. Myrna Williams, Moravia, IA, and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Reger, Sunnyvale, Calif., and one half-brother, Don Eller, Sepulveda, Calif. Mrs. Hood was a member of the LaPlata Methodist Church. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Christie Funeral Chapel at LaPlata, with the Rev. Harold E. Spradling, minister of the Faith Methodist United church, Kirksville, officiating. Burial will be in the LaPlata cemetery.
