J W Hudson was born to James F Hudson and Mary Ann Hudson.on May 4 1870 in Logan Co., Arkansas
When he was 4 years old he moved with his parents to Collin Co., Texas They kept moving west as the country settled up. When he was 10 years of age they moved to Mangum Oklahoma (then Texas) When 18 he left home and drifted back east., returned to Collin Co., TX and married Flora Belle Chitty Aug 11 1897 He parents lived in Collin Co TX. To this union 9 children were born. All have preceded him in death but one , Albert Hudson of Clinton Oklahoma.
Whit Hudson used to tell and show a picture of him when he was young and became a minister. In the Picture he would point out the patch in the front of his pants. It was where a pistol that he always carried wore a hole in it. He always mentioned it was before he became a minster. He also told of driving cattle north through Oklahoma into Kansas to be shipped back east. Told of being saved by his horse as cattle stampede was in progress and he was trapped under a rock ledge on a bank that was being slowly knocked away by there horns and feet. He whistled for his horse who came to him and he grabbed the sturip and the horse drug him out of the way and to safety. He also would mention the Old Buttermilk Saloon which was just inside the Indian Territory of Oklahoma.He was an intersting and kind man. Always willing to help those in need.
Mr Hudson professed the faith in Jesus in 1896. In 1897 he was sanction wholly. In 1902 he moved to Pilot Point Texas where he was engaged in Orphanage work with his brother Oscar Hudson, later moving to Fannin Co. Texas, and later from his brother Oscar as Superintendent of the Hudsonville Orphan Home a penicostal sponsered home for 15 years coming to Butler Oklahoma in 1928 where his wife passed away in 1932.
He was engaged in farming and the Minstery he retired and moved to Clinton in 1940. He was united in marriage to Mrs Nettie Smith September 11 1940. at the Salvation Army Post in Clinton.He leaves to mourn his loving wife, one son Albert,5 grandchildren, 2 greatgrand children, three step children Beula Roark, Lola Blackburn and Mann Smith, also three foster children, Bell Langston, Grover Hill and Otto Rogers and a host of other relatives and friends.
