Dorothy Irene Manley, age 91, formerly of New Bethlehem, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011. She was residing at the Otterbein Retirement Home in Lebanon, Ohio.

Born February 1, 1920, in Timblin, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late Osmer and Twila Brocious.

She married Jack A. Manley on August 14, 1959. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2004.

Mrs. Manley was a graduate of Brookville High School and Clarion State Teachers College. She taught for 34 years in the Bradford and Punxsutawney schools, retiring in 1980. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma and in retirement, was active in golf and bridge. She faithfully attended the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem until moving to Ohio, to be near her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Hise and her husband, John, of Morrow, Ohio; three granddaughters: Jennifer McMennamin and her husband, Kevin; Heather Hise and Wendy Corbin and her husband, Currie; three great grandchildren: Andrew McMennamin, Laura McMennamin and Josephine Corbin, two brothers, Donald Brocious and Eugene Brocious; and four sisters, Margie Wolfgang, Lois Stello, Ruby Smith and Alda Shick.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Helen Huffman, Velma Huber and Norma "Peggy" Yohe; and a brother, Elwood Brocious.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Rupert Funeral Home, 301 Penn Street, New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Reverend Joe Short, a pastor of the Redbank Valley Methodist Ministry, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the New Bethlehem Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dorothy's name to the Otterbein Benevolent Fund, 585 N. State Rte. 741, Lebanon, Ohio 45036 or the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem, 234 Penn Street, New Bethlehem, PA 16242.
