GRIFFIN DAILY NEWS Sunday, December 24, 1995, NEWTON SHIFLETT

Mr. Newton Shiflett, 87, of 415 Airport Road, Griffin, died early Saturday morning at the Griffin Health Care Center. Mr. Shiflett was born in Carroll County, Ga., the son of the late William Augustus Shiflett and the late Mary Etta Chambers Shiflett. Mr. Shiflett was retired from the Crompton Highland Mill and was a member of the West Sunny Side Congregational Holiness Church of Sunny Side, Ga.,

Mr. Shiflett was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Patricia Shiflett. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Shiflett of Sunny Side; daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Bennie Branan of Sunny Side; sons and daughter-in-laws, Reginal and Nancy Shiflett, Keith and Connie Shiflett, all of Sunny Side; Mike and Susan Shiflett of Grovetown, Ga., 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Beverly Arnold of Breman, Ga.; sister-in-laws, Ludie Mae Vickers and Mayomie Vickers of Griffin; brother-in-law, Elbert Vickers of Griffin; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Newton Shiflett will be conducted this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the West Sunny Side Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Billy Anderson and the Rev. Henry Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Shiflett will be carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to he funeral hour. McCullough Funeral Home of Griffin is in charge of the arrangements.
