Brandenburg Funeral Today - Hagerstown Man Who Shot Self Here Was Native Of County.

The funeral of Gorman C. Brandenburg, Hagerstown small loan financial agent who shot himself to death early Tuesday at the Francis Scott Key hotel here, will be held this afternoon at 3:30. The body was taken to Hagerstown Tuesday morning, following examination of it by local authorities.
A verdict of suicide was returned in the case by Justice Sherman P. Bowers, who with State's Attorney Walter E. Sinn and Sheriff Charles W. Crum expressed the opinion that the wound was clearly self-inflicted, as supported by the note which Brandenburg left. No inquest was deemed necessary.
Brandenburg, who was prominent in civic and social club affairs of Hagerstown, was a native of Harmony, this county, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brandenburg. Besides them he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna O. Brandenburg, Hagerstown; six brothers, Leslie, John, Glenn, Leo and Charles, all of Harmony, and Russell, of Hagerstown; and three sisters, Mrs. Lola Waters, Middletown; Mrs. Alice Atkins, Braddock Heights, and Mrs. Mary Burkholder, Hagerstown.
He enjoyed a wide friendship in Hagerstown, where he was past resident of the Alsatia Club and also of the Monarch Club. Recently he had been complaining of severe headaches, but his physical condition was not considered alarming by members of his family and friends.

Interment will be in Rest Haven cemetery, Hagerstown, Rev. Dr. Berry Plummer will officiate.
