John Blessinger was my grgrgr-grandfather, his birth year was 1805 born in Hellam,York,Pa. This information is in "History of Idaho: The Gem of The Mountains" vol.2,
Illustrated, Chicago, The SJ Clarke Publishing Company-1920,p.999. He married Elizabeth Braun also born in Pa., listed as Brown in this same book. Braun is from York co.,Pa., First Trinity Church marriage records. The book said she traveled with her brother Sam Brown. They were also probably of German decent.
John was a farmer.
John & Elizabeth married on the 30 March 1830 in Hellam,York,Pa. She died on the 3 June 1847, in Charlottesville,Hancock,Indiana. John married a Mary Dungan on the 30 March 1849 in Charlottesville,Hancock,Indiana. There are other Dungan children listed with the Blessinger children on the 1850 Indiana census.
From what I can tell they had the possibility of having had a son-Benjamin F. Blessinger b.-@1855 in Jackson twp, Hancock, Indiana. John and Elizabeth had the possiblity of having had 7 or 8 children. Leah H. b.-Dec.1833 in Pa., md John Talbot Fort. Frederick R.b.-1834 in Pa., md Mary Etta McCorkhill. Alexander b.-Nov.1836 in Pa., md Mariah Ann McClellan. John Jr. b.-Mar.1839 in Pa., md Harrietta Elizabeth Byrd. Eliza A. b.-Nov.1840 in Ind., md Asa H. Allison. Henrietta b.,-April 1845 in Ind. md Jams M. Maxwell. I also feel that Elizabeth birthed Barbra Ellen Blessinger b.-April 1847 in Indiana, two months before Elizabeth died.
