Assembly of God Presbyter Died Early Thursday

Rev. R.Q. Hankins, 54, sectional Presbyter of the Assembly of God Church for this area, died of a heart attack at the family residence, 614 South Sixteenth street, early Thursday morning.

Funeral services will be held from the First Assembly of God church in Fairfield, Friday at 2 PM. Burial will be in the [Oakwood] cemetery.

The Rev. Mr. Hankins was the sectional presbyter for 14 Central Texas counties for his denomination and had resided here for the past two years.

Born at Streetman, June 28, 1900, he was sales manager for the Central Texas Grocery Company here prior to his entering the ministry about 25 years ago.

The marriage of Rev. and Mrs. Hankins' daughter, Miss Jean Hankins and James Thompson of Fort Worth, scheduled for Friday night here with her father as officiant, has been postponed, a family spokesman revealed.

Surviving are his wife of Corsicana; a son, Rev. B.B. Hankins, West Columbia, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Val Garrick, Dallas, and Miss Jean Hankins, Corsicana; three grandsons, and several uncles, aunts, and other relatives.
