Thomas Robinson married Nancy Miller between 1841 and 1845, and they had three children Thomas, Jane and Mary Ann. Thomas was a gauger of boats (checking the draft for barges loaded with coal) at the D&H Canal Company's Honesdale basin. They lived at 353 Ridge Street, overlooking the canal basin. By 1848, the D&H had become the first million-dollar private enterprise in America. Thomas was listed in the 1870 census as a retired 'farmer', and by 1880 he was 'disabled'. He died at the age of 80 in Honesdale on Friday, Sep 5, 1884.
