d/o Harvey Quitman Yarborough & Margaret Alyne Breeden

Hazel, the ninth of ten children of Margaret Alyne Breeden (1869-1921) and Harvey Quitman Yarborough (1858-1949) died of tuberculosis at the Greenwell Springs Tuberculosis Hospital at only 22 years of age. This historic hospital was built on grounds that had housed a resort hotel built in the 1850s around ten mineral springs; the resort was used as a headquarters for General John Breckinridge during the Civil War. In 1920, the state of LA bought the property to build a tuberculosis hospital; subsequently Greenwell Springs Hospital became a psychiatric facility; today it is closed.
