Donald A. Dorcey, 82, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Trinity, Rock Island.

Graveside services with military honors, presented by Moline American Legion Post 246, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with burial following. Those wishing to attend should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, at 10 a.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Two Rivers United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.

Donald was born June 2, 1928, in Creston, Iowa, a son of Arthur E. Dorcey and Edith Kappleman Dorcey. He married Ethel J. Breitenstein on Nov. 28, 1970, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2009.

Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In earlier years, he worked at International Harvester and Rock Island Millworks. He then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal until his retirement.

He was a member of Moline American Legion Post 246. Don loved spending time with friends, fishing and was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include his children, David Blaser, Santa Ana, Calif., Steve Blaser, Seattle, Wash., Barbara and Kim Blayzor, Garden Grove, Calif., and Janet Kortlever, Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and special friend, Diane Wade, Rock Island.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Gordon Keith Dorcey, Kenneth Dorcey; and sisters, Darlene Carnicle, Evelyn Johnson and Elise Faye Baumann.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Trinity Rock Island and Spencer Towers, Rock Island, for their kindness and care.
