Born in Wisconsin in 1937, moved to Kansas and Missouri in the 1940's and graduated from Bethany High School in May 1955. Graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in Civil Engineering and spent 33 years in federal service with the Forest Service in Colorado and Corps of Engineers in Omaha, Nebraska. Married for 36 years, father of seven children: Sherri, Shauna, David, Daniel, Michael, Shandra, Sharla.
