Mary Dunning was born on 4 April 1739 in York, Maine.2,3 She was the daughter of William Dunning and Deborah Donnell.1,4 Mary Dunning married Colonel Dummer Sewall, son of Capt. Samuel Sewall and Sarah Batchelder, on 18 December 1760 in York, Maine, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Isaac Lyman. The Vital records, 1779-1903 Bath, give a date of 16 December at Bath.5 Mary Dunning died on 10 July 1823 in Bath, Maine, at the age of 84 (gravestone). (Sinnett gives a date of 10 September, 1823). Mary Dunning is said to have been "the prettiest girl of Old York, Maine, she was a woman of truly a sterling character, very patriotic,and beloved by all."4,3
