A death which occurred Wednesday of last week, and one which greatly shocked a number of friends throughout Southern West Virginia, was that of Mrs J F Beavers of Kenova, who died at a hospital at Huntington after an illness of several weeks. Some time ago Mrs Beavers was stricken with a severe attack of lagrippe, and this was followed by nervous prostration. While it was realized that her condition was serious, it was only until a very few days before her death that her friends became aware of the gravity of the situation.
Mrs Beavers, while a resident of Kenova but a short time, had made many friends since making Kenova her home three years ago. She was a daughter of Lewis McDonald, a prominent citizen of Raleigh county, and was a member of one of the state's oldest and best families. She was a woman of high character and fine intelligence, and was greatly beloved wherever known. She was related to many prominent families of the southern half of the state, among her well known relatives being Judge J M Sanders, of Bluefield, Mrs Mike Matheny and Mrs T J McGinnis, of Beckley, and many others in the different southern counties.
She is survived by her husband, ex-Senator J F Beavers, and by other near relatives. Her family, who has a host of friends in Raleigh, has the sympathy of all.
Funeral services were held Saturday and that the burial would be at Spring Hill cemetery, near Huntington.
Judge McGinnis attended her obsequies.
