Camdenton, Mo. — Ruby Mae (Brown) Irwin, age 77, of the Horseshoe Bend area in Lake Ozark, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Lake Regional Hospital. Ruby was born in Miller County on April 10, 1933, a daughter of the late Harley Clinton and Lora Alice (Jeffries) Brown. On June 3, 1950, in Tuscumbia, she was married to Theodore Wayne Irwin who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2007.
Ruby lived in the lake area all her life. She retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service and was a volunteer for the Special Olympics for many years. She was also a past president for the School of the Osage PTA. Ruby enjoyed being in the outdoors, deer hunting, trout fishing and deep sea fishing. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed taking care of people. She had a great sense of humor and was always smiling. Ruby never met a stranger.
Those who survive Ruby include: three daughters, Sharron Wolf and husband, Richard of Oklahoma City, Okla., Susan Bloomquist of St. Bonifacius, Minn., and Sandy Washburn and husband David of Rogers, Ark.; four grandchildren, Amy Wolf Krueger and husband Michael of Lee's Summit, Brian Wolf of West Lafayette, Ind., and Eric Washburn and Emily Washburn both of Springfield; three great grandchildren, Zachary Wolf, Jackson Krueger and Ava Elizabeth Krueger all of Lee's Summit; three step-grandchildren, David Bloomquist and wife Kimberly and Patrick Bloomquist and wife Shawna all of Prior Lake, Minn., and Stephanie Krueger of Montrose, Minn.; 9 step-great grandchildren, Tayler, Hailey and Tristen Krueger all of Delano, Minn., Abbey, Amanda, Carter, Chase, Peyton and Finn Bloomquist all of Prior Lake, Minn.; one sister, Ruth Bartsch and husband Walt of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Brown of Brumley and Eva Phillips of Harvester and numerous family and friends.
One brother, Edward Brown, also preceded her in death.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 14, at Rekus Funeral Home, 902 East North Street, Eldon, Mo., 573-392-3351. The Rev. Ron Lehenbauer officiated. Interment with military honors provided by the Miller County VFW Post 2442 was in Eldon City Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, Aug. 13, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Special Olympics.
