In 1878 she was married to Frank Grover Thompson. Seven children were born to this union. They lived on rented farms for some years, then purchased the old homestead in Roxbury, and were living there at the time of Frank Thompson's death, April 21, 1921. Caroline remained on the farm with her sons for a few years, then made her home with her brother, Charles Loper, in Lodi. She lived there for about 15 years. Here she added many friends to the many she already had. She took great pride and pleasure in her home work and other activities up to the time of her recent illness.
She leaves to mourn her loss, six sons, George, Fred, Elmer, Frank, Lee, and Arby. One daughter, Amelia Thompson Herr, passed away March 17, 1928. All the sons live in or near Lodi except Lee who lives at Monroe. She leaves 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Of these, 5 grandsons are in the service.
She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church which she joined in 1875. She was taken seriously ill while visiting her sister, Mrs. Louise Lorch who is the only surviving member of a family of four brothers and four sisters. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Her six sons were at her bedside at the time of her death, which occurred September 6, 1944, at Lodi.
Her funeral was held at the M. E. Church September 9th, Rev. E. P. Stone officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery by the side of her husband.
