Alford and Mabel Jeakins. She is the first, and so far the last person born there. When she was about six the family moved to Gerlach where Mary finished growing up and attending school. She married Charles Carter in 1929. They had a son, Lee Carter, in 1932.
They divorced and in 1935 she met and married Reed Horton. In 1942 she moved the family from Gerlach to Goshen, Utah while her husband, Reed, was a Seabee in the Pacific assisting in the WWII war effort at the Islands of Oahu and Johnston. After Reed died Mary moved back to Reno, Nevada for a number of years and then went back to Payson, Utah where she died in a nursing home.
Reed and Mary had six children: Gary, Kieth, Anna Clair, Paul and L.J. (Little Joe), an infant that lived only two days.
note: The middle name on headstone is incorrectly spelled as in should be "Madeline" not "Madaline"
