Lacy Gibson Earhart, 77, of 204 Archer St., died 5:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 13, 1974) in King's Daughters' Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday.
He was born April 14, 1897 in Augusta County, son of Charles H. and Eva (Brown) Earhart. Mr. Earhart was a member of Old Providence ARP Church.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Virginia Department of Highways for 20 years and 10 years with the Augusta County system.
His first wife, Minnie (Almarode) Earhart, died in 1955.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Moore) Earhart; five sons, Alex G. of Dayton, LeRoy and Robert E., both of Spottswood, Charles E. of Montague, Mich., and Guy W. Earhart of Staunton; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley Faught of Staunton; two step-sons, James F. and Thomas W. Moore, both of Staunton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Jimmy Grooms of Staunton; one brother, I.L. Earhart of Staunton; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Earhart of Greenville, Mrs. J.F. McFaddin and Mrs. Martin Wenger, both of Staunton, and Mrs. John Swink of Rockville, Md.; 21 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Old Providence ARP Church by the Revs. James M. Bell and Holger O. Lundin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. The body is at the Henry Funeral Home, 1030 W. Beverley St., where the family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 o'clock.
