He graduated from West Point in 1860. He came from a distinguished South Carolina family and was the son of General Benjamin Huger, Commander of the Pikesville Armory.
In 1861, Colonel Huger resigned from the Union Army and joined the Confederate Service. After commanding a Norfolk, Virginia battery, he was promoted to Major of Alexander's Battalion Artillery, Longstreet's Corps.
After the War he joined the Norfolk & Western Railroad Company. (bio by: Dave Crouse)
