Following her elementary education she attended Tabor Academy, Tabor, Ia., where she studied fine arts. Upon the death of her mother, she returned to the family farm near Nebraska City to help her father care for her younger brother and sisters.

June 18, 1890, she was united in marriage to Hugh Campbell Walker of Douglas, Neb., where Mr. Walker was engaged in the lumber business. To this union were born two daughters, Grace Isabel and Beth. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1924, and her eldest daughter, Mrs. Earl H. Wilkins, who died in 1953.

Surviving her are her daughter, Mrs. Robert Goss of Lincoln, Neb., one brother, Robert Stooker of Shenandoah, La., one sister, Lula Stooker of Berea, Ky., four grandchildren, Hugh F., William W., Robert E., and Beth M. Wilkins, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

During the years she lived in Douglas, Mrs. Walker was active in the Woman’s Club, church work and Red Cross. She helped organize and sponsor the local library. Mrs. Walker lived in Douglas until her husband retired in 1923.

Following the death of her husband in 1924, she moved to Geneva, making her home with her daughter’s family. Soon thereafter she built a spacious new home.

In Geneva, Mrs. Walker continued to take an active interest in community and church affairs. She joined the First Congregational Church. She was a member of O. K. Kensington, P. E. O.
