Enlisted in Company B of the Reorganized Fourth Michigan Infantry on August 29, 1864, for 3 years, at age 22. Promoted to Corporal on September 9, 1864. Promoted to Sergeant on January 20, 1866. Mustered out of service on May 26, 1866, at Houston, Texas.
