George Michael Peters
Birth: Aug. 29, 1876
Mount Carmel
Wabash County
Illinois, USA
Death: Jan. 18, 1957
Lewis County
Washington, USA

George was the only son of parents Frank Michael Peters and wife Barbara Berberich. His mother died when he was two years old, days after giving birth to his sister, also named Barbara. His sister died at age two months. He is not listed on the 1880 census with his father and step-mother. He was probably sent to live with another relative after the death of his mother. He was not liked by his step-mother and half-siblings, which may have prompted his move to Washington.

He married Laura Parmenter on March 31, 1900 in Wabash County, Illinois. They had one son, Charles. The marriage ended in divorce.

He married Jennie Anna Decker on August 27, 1906 in Rathdrum, Idaho. They lived in Spokane, Washington and had three children: Marie Elizabeth; Clarence William; Albert Franklin. He may also be the father of Jennie's children Martha, Solomon and Mayella. George was physically abusive to his wife which eventually ended the marriage.

George lived in the Mavena Nursing Home in Centralia, Washington for five years before he passed away there from myocardial insuffiency and arteriosclerosis. His son Charles, from the first marriage, was the informant on the death certificate so it is assumed Charles was the one who took care of George in his later years.
*the following obit is not accurate, it only mentions the son from the first marriage; it also is incorrect on the number of years that George lived in Centralia, he was in Spokane, WA until at least 1910*
