Lillian Bernice Jones, the daughter of Clara Ethel DeVore and John Calvin Judy, under who's care and admonition spent her youthful years, was born January 24, 1911, on a farm northwest of Oak, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 5, 1987, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Lillian's early years were spent in the Angus, Nebraska, area where her loving parents moved. Here Lillian attended school. As she grew to womanhood she did work as a clerk in her father's store, postmaster of Angus.

Lillian was united with the United Brethern Church of Angus, and Sunday school teacher for five years.

On April 5, 1949, Lillian was married to Arvis (NOTE: his military stone spells his name as Orvis) Leslie Jones at Hastings, Nebraska. One year Arvis was employed at the Elevator in Ruskin, later moving to a farm northwest of Nora. This union was blessed with the birth of two chidren.

After the death of her husband Arvis on August 1, 1965, Lillian and her family remained on the farm for several years with her children, who tilled the soil.

She knew obstacles but persisted and rededicated herself daily to courageous efforts thru faith in both God and man. No one person could have taken more pains to do the things right in life, to rear her children and her hope always was to do a fine job and they would be a credit to their community and ancestors.

Lillian was a kind and devoted mother, always interested in their welfare and a loyal friend, she counted her friends by the score. Lillian also had a genial happy nature, loved people and was a generous and kind friend and neighbor, a great reader. May the memories of her life be cherished by her children, be a precious treasurer of peace, comfort and hope through all the years to come.

Left to cherish her memory: son Calvin Jones of Hardy, Nebraska; daughter Ava Thayer of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters Mrs. Carl (Florence) Jorgensen and Mrs. Ivan (Mildred) Melton; brother Eldon Judy; grandchildren Brandon, James, Stacey and Bradley; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 8, 1987, 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Nora. The Rev. Morris T. Coggin was the officiant. Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin. Urbauer-Williams Funeral Home of Edgar was in charge of the arrangements.
