Raymond G. Illes Sr., of Holiday, formerly of Brockton, Mass., and Taunton, Mass., died Saturday, Aug. 21, at Gulfside Regional Hospice in New Port Richey, after a period of failing health. He was 80 years old. He was the beloved husband of Theresa P. (Allen) Illes of 58 years. Born March 28, 1930, in Bar Harbor, Maine, he was a son of the late Julius and Florence (Fongeallaz) Illes. Ray owned and operated Warren Ave. Citgo and Fairgrounds Citgo, and later on, Rays Auto Service and Ray's Auto Parts store in Brockton. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was formerly a member of St. Margaret's Church in Brockton and St. Joseph's Church in Taunton. He was the loving father of Raymond Illes Jr. and wife Elaine of Bridgewater, Mass., Lloyd Illes and wife Margaret of Cambridge, England, William Illes of Tampa, Walter Illes of Palm Harbor, John Illes of Holiday and the late Michael Illes. Raymond was the devoted grandfather of 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was also brother of the late Russell Illes, Gordon Illes and Max Illes; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell. Arrangements by Dobies Funeral Home, 4910 Bartelt Road, Holiday, 727-937-7555. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Ray's name to Gulfside Regional Hospice/West Pasco, 6117 Treble Creek Road, New Port Richey, FL 34653.
