Captain F.G. Brown.
101st Indian Grenadiers.

The photograph opposite is of the family plot in Mount Jerome Cemetery, Dublin, on the headstone of which his name has been recorded.

Captain Frederick George Brown, son of Vere Ward Brown, married Iverna Wright, daughter of Archibald Manning Wright and Fannie Helena Wright at Bombay, India, on 12 September 1913.

Frederick was noted as being aged 32.
Ivena was noted as being aged 23.

Iverna Wright was noted in the 1901 and 1911 census of Ireland returns, as a daughter of Archibald Manning Wright [a Merchant Tailor] and his wife Fanny Helena Wright.

Captain Brown was part of the ill-fated attempt to land British and Indian Army forces into German East Africa, where German forces were operating south of Kenya. In many ways the plan was similar to that for Gallipoli, and after several days the invasion force retreated, leaving 360 dead behind.
