Edward E. Bell Jr., 79, of Reynolds, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Aledo Health and Rehab.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds. Burial is in Reynolds Cemetery with military rites by Reynolds American Legion Post 1166. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Reynolds United Methodist Church or Reynolds American Legion Post 1166.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Alexis, to Ed and Gladys Johnson Bell Sr. He married Larene Curtis Sept. 23, 1950, in Reynolds.
He attended Reynolds High School and Bradley University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a lineman with the power company retiring from Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company's Sherrard Power District after 40 years on Sept. 25, 1987. He also worked at Mer-Roc F.S. in Reynolds for several years.
He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and entered many state and national tournaments. He also helped with bingo at the Reynolds American Legion.
He was a member of the NHPA, Reynolds Euchre Club, lifetime member of American Legion Post 1166 and Reynolds United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Larene Bell, Reynolds; uncles, Charles Bellinger, Reynolds, David Bellinger, Roseville; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
