"A.F. Bates Dies"
"Alva F. Bates, 77, of Orangeville, Trumbull County, died early Monday, following a stroke. Born in Hartford township, Sept. 1, 1882, he was a son of Ira and Laura Spencer Bates, and lived in Canfield for some time before moving to Orangeville 20 years ago. He was a carpenter by occupation. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Youngstown and Arthur of San Diego, Calif., and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Galloway Funeral Home in Hartford, and burial made in the West Street cemetery."
