Mary Elizabeth Anthony was born at Racine, Wisconsin, January 30, 1847; married July 22, 1866 to Asa C. Otterson at La Martin, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. To this union were born eight children, six girls and two boys of which they lost two, a girl and a boy. The living are Mrs. Ada Kimball, Lovicy Helmer, Frank Otterson, Maud McGinn, Corlin Bartlett, and Carrie Shelly. They lived in the southern part of Minnesota the early part of their married life and about 25 years in this vicinity.
Mrs. Otterson was very prominent in church circles and lived a true Christian life and was well liked by all who knew her.
Saturday, July 27th at about 4:30 o'clock p.m., she sank into a sleep from which one never awoke - Sunday at 4:15 after a short struggle she passed into the great beyond.
Mrs. Otterson has been helpless for one year. When she was still conscious but knew the end was near she arranged her own funeral. Rev. A. Parks preached the sermon.
Many floral tributes were sent from all over. Interment at the Backus cemetery. The pall bearers were Chas. Rice, J. A. Newman, Jas. Goodrich, W. Tilsbury, Joseph Voshel, S. D. Fairbanks.
