Pearl Catherine Sampson, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson, died at 4:10 Monday [June 24, 1929] morning after having been ill some time. Funeral services were held at 1:30 yesterday afternoon at the home and at 2 in the Estherville Lutheran church, the Rev. L. A. Mathre in charge. Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery.

Pearl Catherine Sampson, sixth child of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson was born Sept. 14, 1920 at Estherville. On Dec. 5, she received Holy baptism at the Estherville Lutheran church.

Though not robust in constitution, she carried her regular school work and was a pupil in the third grade when she was taken ill May 12, and was confined to the hospital five days. She was home for ten days when she had to return to the hospital where she passed away. A post mortem revealed her ailment to be a heart and liver complication.

Pearl was always a lovable child and the sweet patient way she bore her suffering won the admiration of all who visited her during her illness.

She leaves to mourn her early departure her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson, brothers, Marion, Adolph, and Clarence, and sisters, Mildred, Audeen, and Betty. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, June 27, 1929)
