Barksdale H. Drew
| BLAIR - Funeral services for Barksdale Heyward Drew, age 88, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Salem Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Richard Hodges with burial to follow in the Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.
Mr. Drew died peacefully surrounded by family on August 14, 2010. He was the husband of the late Clara Wieser Drew and son of the late George W. and Florence Morgan Drew. He was born in Rion, SC on April 20, 1922. Mr. Drew was a graduate of Monticello High School and a veteran of the US Marine Corp. He participated in the occupation of Japan after WWII. Mr. Drew retired as the plant superintendent of the Greenwood plant after 35 years of service for Lone Star Industries.
Mr. Drew is survived by one son, Dale Drew and his wife, Betsy, of Rock Hill, SC; two daughters, Barbara Zavinski and her husband, Mike, of Indian Land, SC, and Cathy Helms and her husband, Tim, of Myrtle Beach, SC; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
