Woodward, Okla. Mary Maxine Eagon passed away on August 9, 2010. She was born to Robert and Esther (Lucas) Chenoweth on March 2, 1931, at the Chenoweth farm home near Woodward where her father grew up.

She attended school in Woodward County and graduated from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. On May 29, 1953, she married Margil Wadley and they made their home in Lake Jackson, Texas, Stillwater, Oklahoma, and West Lafayette, Indiana.

Maxine worked as a secretary for Dow Chemical Company, a social worker for D.H.S. in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and taught school in Tippeconoe County Indiana, at Clarks Hill Indiana.

Maxine returned to Oklahoma in 1962, and began working again as a social worker in child welfare, with delinquent, neglected, and abused children.

She retired in October 2001, after 42 years of faithful service with the Department of Human Services. On July 29, 1967, she was united in marriage to Dennis G. Eagon. They made their home in Oklahoma City and Bethany, OK.

Denny preceded her in death June 11, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Esther Chenoweth and her brother, Max Chenoweth.

Maxine was a caring person who loved working with people from all walks of life. She showed special concern for children in foster homes and the medically needy children in the Children's Center in Bethany as well as children in their own homes. She loved entertaining and having company, working in her yard and garden, and was involved in many church activities.

Maxine and her husband Denny loved to travel and visited in nearly all of the states.

Maxine is survived by her sister-in-law Junette Chenoweth of Woodward, OK; nephew Don Chenoweth and wife Mary Ann of Woodward; niece Kaylene Chenoweth Benoit and husband John of Midlothian, TX; sister-in-law Lenora Williams and husband Robert of Duncanville, Texas; Margaret Johnson and husband Milford of Wichita, KS; Jean Eagon Harper and husband Howard of Woodard, OK; brother-in-law Robert Oblander of Shattuck, OK; sister-in-law Virginia Plowe of Ardmore, OK; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 10am, Thurs, Aug 12, at Putnam City United Methodist Church where Maxine was a member. The body will lie in state at the Nazarene Church in Woodward, OK, from 3-4 pm with graveside services at 4:30pm in Elmwood Cemetery. To share a memory or condolence, visit
