Alton Reedy Dead.
The announcement last Saturday that Alton Reedy was dead came as a great shock to our little city. Not many people knew he was sick and few thought him dangerously ill. He complained of feeling badly on Monday of last week and took to his bed Tuesday. A doctor was called in and pronounced it biliousness. Alton complained of inward heat but had no fever. He continued to get worse and death ended his mortal career at 6:20 Saturday morning.
The funeral was held from the family residence Sunday at 10:00 a.m., being conducted by Rev. J. L. Gage. The cortege was one of the largest ever seen in the city, attesting the high standing of the family in this community. Interment was made in Green Hill cemetery.
Joseph Alton Reedy, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Reedy, was born in Ellis county, Texas, Oct. 14, 1886, making him nearly 23 years old. He came with his parents to Davis about 11 years ago and grew to manhood in this city. He led a clean, upright life and was considered one of the town's best young men. He joined the Methodist church during the Burk-Hobbs meeting several months ago.
The deceased had a bright future before him and it is a sad thought that he is cut down so young in life. He attended the Normal at Edmond, Okla., the past summer and was preparing to enter the profession of school teaching this fall.
Relatives and friends are bowed in grief over the sudden death of this noble young man. The News joins in extending them condolence.
