The Rochester Sentinel, Monday, February 5, 1968

Claude E. SHOEMAKER, 55, R.R. 1, Argos, died Sunday at 9:40 p.m. in Parkview hospital at Plymouth. He had been ill two months and in the hospital four days.

He was born April 5, 1912, in Mentone to Clifford and Nettie CHAPMAN SHOEMAKER. On April 10, 1932, he was married in Chicago to Susie KICKERT, who survives. Mr. Shoemaker was a farmer and milk hauler for the Reliable Dairy company, South Bend. He had lived in the Argos area for 35 years and was a member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Barbara) WARNER, R.R. 3, Rocheter; Miss Claudette SHOEMAKER, at home; one son, Donald SHOEMAKER, Kokomo; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Fern) SWIHART, Argos; five brothers, Ralph SHOEMAKER, R.R. 5, Rochester; Roy SHOEMAKER, R.R. 1, Argos; Rev. Lee SHOEMAKER, Palo Cedro, Cal., Carl SHOEMAKER, Orange, Col.; Raymond SHOEMAKER, Gary; and five grandchildren. A son, Eugene SHOEMAKER, died in infancy. Two brothers, Howard and Donald SHOEMAKER, also preceded in death.

Final rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Grossman funeral home at Argos. The Rev. Robert EBEY will officiate. Burial will be in the Walnut Church of Brethren cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
