Having gone missing on the above date, Alvin was not officially declared as being dead by the military until June 19, 1946, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Carrie E. McMinn of Trenton, NJ.

Alvin served as a Sergeant & Kicker on C-47B #43-48730, 319th Troop Carrier Squadron, 1st Air Commando Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

Alvin normally was assigned to the 1st Resupply Squadron, 443rd Troop Carrier Group, but was assigned to the above group on this day.

He resided in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 16, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Alvin was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" when his C-47 went missing near Warazup, Burma.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster" and the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
