Pvt Feind enlisted in the Army on 12 September, 1941. He was first sent to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri for initial training. He then transferred into the Air Cirps and was stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois, followed by duty stations in Florida, Idaho, and California before being sent overseas.

Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until December 15, 1945.

Roger served as a Private on B-17E #41-2536, 65th Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Lincoln County, Wisconsin prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 12, 1941, prior to the war, in Wausau, Wisconsin . He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17E #41-2536 took off, with a crew of 10 & 5 other B-17's, from Torrens Creek Airfield, Queensland, Australia on a search for Japanese shipping off the southern coast of New Britain Island.

After locating 2 Japanese Destroyers they attacked. They were hit by anti-aircraft fire which set B-17E #41-2536 on fire. Multiple parachutes were seen leaving the B-17 however the entire crew was lost.

Roger was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the "Silver Star", Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
