Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until February 4, 1946.

Frank's remain have been recovered and he is now interred at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, Washington.

Frank served as a Aviation Metalsmith First Class, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Washington prior to the war.

He was a Passenger on Navy flight R4D-5 #39090.

R4D-5 #39090 took off from Mareeba Airfield on a flight to Cairns Airfield then took off again on a flight bound for Momote Airfield on Los Negros Island. The plane never reached Momote Airfield and was declared missing during the war.

The aircraft was discovered in 1970 and had crashed into Mount Scratchley in the vicinity of Mount Victoria.

Frank was a passenger on this aircraft and was first declared "Missing In Action" and his status, after finding the aircraft, was later changed to "Killed In Action"

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
