Son of Mrs. Virgia Roberts who resided in York, Pennsylvania.

Charles served as a Sergeant & Engineer / Gunner on B-25J #43-36150, 823th Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Pennsylvania prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 25, 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

B-25J #43-36150 took off from Lingayen Air Strip, Luzon, Philippines on a strike mission in the Gulf of Tonkin, off Hainan island, China. They were hit by either ground anti-aircraft fire or were hit by Japanese aircraft which knocked out one of their engines. The crashed into the sea with no survivors.

Charles was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart
