Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until February 11, 1946.

Husband of Hazel G. J. Malligo who resided in Beaumont, Texas.

Andrew served as a Flight Officer & Co-Pilot on C-47 #41-38709, 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.

C-47 #41-38709 took off, with a crew of 3 and a drop crew of 4, from Dinjan, India on a Cargo Drop Mission over Myitkyina, Burma (Myanmar).

They crashed due to bad weather in the remote mountains of Burma. The crash site was discovered in 1987 and some of the remains were recovered at that time. It is unsure whose remains were and were not recovered.

Andrew was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal.
