Martin's remain were recovered in March, 2007 and identified on March 3, 2010. He is now interred in the Saint Patrick Cemetery, Lowell, Massachusetts.

A "Rosette" was placed in front of his name here at Manila to signify that his remains were recovered.

Martin served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-24D "Shack Rat" #42-40918, 320th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Middlesex County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 14, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24D "Shack Rat" #42-40918 took off from 5-Mile Drome near Port Moresby on a reconnaissance mission. Due to bad weather they crashed, as would later be learned, in the Sarawaget Mountain Range in Morobe Province.

Martin was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war. After his remains were recovered his status was changed to "Killed In Action".

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
