Paul served as a Technician Fifth Grade, Headquarters Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Jefferson County, Kentucky prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 22, 1942 in Louisville,m Kentucky. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a painter and also as Divorced, with dependents.

Paul was declared "Missing In Action" and died in the "Line Of Duty" when the C-47A "Sure Skin" (#42-23860), on which he was a passenger, apparently caught fire and exploded for an unknown reason and crashed in the San Pedro Bay close to Leyte during bad weather.

This crash occurred 4 days after World War II had ended.

The entire crew of 4 and all 26 passengers perished on this flight.
