Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until October 24, 1946, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Edward served as a Staff Sergeant, 72nd Squadron, 52nd Air Service Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war and was a passenger on C-47 #44-76232.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 29, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

C-47 #44-76232 was on a flight from Myitkyina South Airdome, Burma, for Chabua, India carrying passengers and cargo.

Edward died in the "Line Of Duty", during post war operations, when the C-47 he was on crashed for an unknown reason that was believed to be weather related in Burma after World War II was over.
