Son of Gurney Edward Davis and Ethel Irene Cooley Davis.

Gurney served as a Technician Fifth Grade, 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 22, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed as a Skilled mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

Gurney "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Service # 33376564

He also has a "Cenotaph" in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Maryland. That headstone is shown at the right.
